I enjoy writing for children and about children. These characters struggle at home, at school, and at play. However, they find comfort, love, patience, and understanding from their earthly guardians. Ultimately, they find strength and inspiration to overcome their personal conflicts.

Some of the challenges my characters encounter:

  • Fear
  • Judgment by others
  • Courage
  • Self-control
  • Self-esteem
  • Truthfulness
  • Inquisitiveness
  • Health issues

My works in progress include several children’s books, an inspirational short story, and a motivating project about reconnecting with God, family, and friends for adults. Look forward to these publications soon!

It’s a privilege to share my talents with my readers. God continues to bless me with gifts of writing, singing, and baking (my ministries). Therefore, I like to include “a little something extra” for my readers. So, one might find a song, poem, or a recipe at the end of one of my stories. Check out my “Ooey Gooey Butter Cake” recipe on my “Vanessa’s Recipes” page.

In addition, please subscribe to receive the Connecting Readers to the Word for Readers and Writers (formerly The Children’s Bookroom) blog or “Connecting Readers to the Word,” a free quarterly e-newsletter  (home page).

Thanks.
